Writer's Block: Back to School

What fictional high school—from tv, film, or a book—would you most like to attend? Or would you rather never go near high school again, fictional or otherwise?

Let Me out

In a vampire world, humans would not commit suicide by gun or pills or driving off a cliff or simply ignoring health problems they are aware will certainly kill them if they don't act. They wouldn't have to do any of these things. All they would have to do is, during the grief or whatever emotion or feeling they have that is driving them to this thought, go to the designated area and wait. Things will have already been pre-arranged. When you are ready, you go there then the vampires come to feed.  They benefit and you get what you want. (hopefully they don't screw up and turn you instead). If that happens, just stay out there and wait for the sun.

No, I don't need an intervention. Just a thought that came to mind.

A sweet grandmother telephoned St. Joseph's Hospital. She  timidly asked: “Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?”

The operator said 'I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room number? The grandmother in her weak tremulous voice said, 'Norma Findlay, Room 302.

The operator replied, 'Let me place you on hold while I check with her nurse.

After a few minutes the operator returned to the phone and said, 'Oh, I have good news, her nurse just told me that Norma is doing very well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back as normal and her physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged on Tuesday.

The grandmother said, 'Thank you. That's wonderful! I was s o worried! God bless you for the good news.’

The operator replied, 'You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?’

The grandmother said,

'No, I'm Norma Findlay in 302. No one tells me shit.'

Carousel of Doom

As I silently observe the US economy spiral downward, I see subtle changes taking place: containers are getting smaller even though the price stays the same, the high weeds on the shoulders of roads because the state of Ohio isn't mowing as much, single pieces of fried fish from the cafeteria at work going up to $3.19 EACH! But now it is time once again for the Cincinnati Mills Mall to implode on itself.
Years ago it was the Forest Fair Mall. It thrived for a while then it died a slow agonizing death because there weren't enough people willing to shop there. Monday, I went to this mall on a reconnaissance mission: I had heard the only superstore there, Biggs, was closing and the closeout deals were great. I'd been there twice before and found a few things but I was holding out till the last minute 90% markdown. I found out I was too late. Whether someone came in and wiped them out or they could no longer afford the rent it would take to keep it open another week or so, Biggs was already closed.
Not to waste a trip, I decided to prowl through the mall to see if there was anything else I was in need of. As I walked I became aware of how very few people were actually in the mall. I realize this was Monday afternoon but school was out so there should've been a few bored kids floating around but no. It was as if the mall was abandoned. Everything left in place: the lights, the music, a few TVs played and the scent of a warm pretzel yet everyone seemed to have just walked away.
Many stores were closed. I mean "empty with plastic over the glass on the inside" closed not just closed for the day. Even the arcade had succumbed to the lack of business. The ARCADE! I began to imagine that at any moment I would turn the corner and come face to face with a hungry hoard of zombies. Where's Max Brooks book when I need it?!
Maybe this time, after all the stores are gone, they will put this monstrous building to better use: apartments, a library, homeless shelter, or even film a zombie movie here employing hundreds or thousands of extras as the zombie hoard. At least it would keep a few families out of the food bank for a week or two.

Did you know?

Memories take up alot of room? After losing 2 family members this year I've inherited LOTS of photos. THOUSANDS of photos. Thought I would make copies for everyone and keep all the originals. Let me tell you, THAT plan has changed. There's going to be quite a few originals going out too but I will make sure that I have scanned copies of everything. I can't see one corner of the kitchen because of all the boxes. It's cool and annoying at the same time. All that family history in one location.....then OMG I've got so much stuff in here I can barely move!!!

I'll get it all figured out. It just takes time.

Having lunch with my contract company supervisor today. Have a few things to discuss. A little frustrated at work and need to run some things past her.

On April 8, 2008, my mother passed away. Her heart broke when my brother died so now she is with him.

Please leave her some flowers if you are so inclined.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.

If you can't eat it or hump it.

Pi$$ on it and walk away.

Moonlight NOT included in CBS list of renewed shows!
Hey all ~

CBS issued the following press release today listing the television shows that they are renewing for next season.....

CBS RENEWS 11 SERIES FOR THE 2008-2009 SEASON

"Cold Case," "Criminal Minds," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: Miami," "CSI: NY," "Ghost Whisperer," "NCIS," "Numb3rs," "Two and a Half Men," "Without a Trace" and the Freshman Comedy "The Big Bang Theory" Join Previously Announced '"Survivor" and "The Amazing Race"

Moonlight is not on the list! A few months ago, CEO Les Moonves mentioned that The Big Bang Theory & Moonlight were the freshman series that were "likely" to get a second season. Big Bang Theory is on the renewal list. *frown*

This is the reason we can not let up in supporting our show. It is imperative that the four new episodes airing the rest of this season (beginning April 11th) have huge ratings. Please, continue writing and calling the network, media shows/magazines and such. Above all.... spread the word!

Thank you soooooooo much *smile*
